With a moustache and a beard. Even though I claim to live in Australia I could be from Greece. I say I’m a 15 year old girl, I could be a 32 year old man. Or a 45 year old woman. Are you starting to have doubts about me now? I say I’m in Year 10, I could be in Year 4. I could be 9 years old. How do you know what I’m saying about myself is the truth and what is a lie? You can’t. Even if they have pictures or videos. They could be stealing someone else’s pictures/videos.
Ok so I’m not writing this post saying that I’m lying about myself (I’m not by the way. You can choose to believe whatever.) I’m writing this because I’ve seen people fall into these things involving false identification. Someone you’re close to online could well be lying about themselves. For example, I would be lying if I said I was 170cm tall. As much as I wish to be, I’m not. However, some people may lie about themselves and no one would know. It’s one of those good or bad things. It’s good ’cause you can be whoever you want online. However, for example some people have been pretending to be representatives of a certain celebrity. They then would set up meetings for fans of that certain celebrity offline. See how dangerous it can be? It’s a true story!
So, just be careful when you’re meeting people online. I know 98% of you are real but, you know, better safe than sorry.

Hey your blog is very true. I used to joke around with Georgina all the time about how I trust she’s not a 60 year old creeper man who steals pictures of an asian girl off myspace. hahaa. but you’re right, we can’t tell! it kind of ticks me off when people lie about their identity but i know they do it to be safe..but it’s just ridiculous when they go so far as get close to someone & lie about who they are. there was an article about it on Cosmopolitan. It’s kind of sad..this girl thought she found the love of her life but she was actually just talking to this girl that hated her & wanted to play a prank on her.

I had an alias before but I hadn’t lied about myself or whatever. I just kept a few things secret, now I am very open :)

you are sooooo right . I knew a girl who claimed to be from London , but then I found out she was from Florida and had never been to England a day in her life . She would brag about all her new this and that , but it was lie because she actually had no money .
I hate when people lie , liars always get caught . We all have to be really careful when talking to people online, even the nicest people could be a faker .
except me , I’m real . lol .

Yeah, I’ve always wondered why people are so willing to meet people online. Sure, they may say they are this or that, but anyone will say anything.
Ever seen to catch a predator? Those guys lie out their asses (to sleep with a 12 year old)!

That is why I don’t trust anyone online unless it is someone I know in real life than yah I trust them. But other than that, it is going to take A LOT for you to gain my trust -
And if I do meet someone online, I make sure to bring a friend or two with me just in case something goes wrong and I got my friends with me as you never know what may happen. Always bring a friend with you if you are bout to meet someone online as you never know!
Have A Good One!

Good point. I tried that whole identity creating thing over ten years ago, and it backfired. I found friends that I ended up keeping for years, and I eventually had to tell the truth!
Great designs here. I can see why you would talk about identity, seeing as how your domain’s called behindamask.
